How do I order a color consultation?

I purchased my Color Consult Package, but I haven’t received the automated questionnaire e-mail.

If you have not received your e-mail, try the following:

  • Search your emails with [email protected], all mailboxes.
  • Check your spam or junk folder to see if the e-mail is there.  Make sure that you allow [email protected] through your email spam filters.
  • Check to make sure that you are checking the same email account that you purchased the service with.

If you still can’t find the email, Contact Us through the website.  We’ll get back to you within one business day.

What do I get with my Color Strategist Color Report?

For each room or space, you get a Custom Color Report with:

  • Three beautiful color palettes
  • If you choose more than one space at the time of your consult, we will tell you how the palettes work best together.
  • Inspiration images with links from Pinterest to help you visualize results.
  • Recommendations for paint sheen (i.e. gloss, semi-gloss, satin, egg-shell or flat) based on your chosen paint brand. I typically work with Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint brands.
  • A paint color project summary chart with paint names, amount needed, and sample images of the paint cans needed for your paint contractor to sign off on prior to paint purchase to ensure they understand the job.
  • My reasons for our choices, so it can help guide you if you need to change or add additional items in the future.
Does Jamila Mubdia Color & Design Studio have a warranty or money-back policy?

Jamila Mubdia color strategy consultation purchases that do not fully complete the Welcome Kit email requirements (ie. completed questionnaire, photos sent per instructions, etc.) within 14 days, will get a 50% refund of the purchase price if the refund request is received within 15 days of the initial purchase date. After 15 days no refund is available.

If you are dissatisfied after you receive your color consultation for any reason other than personal preference, we will modify the color consultation once based on your feedback.

Once our color consultation is complete, we cannot provide a refund.

How do I take photos for my color consultation?

Simple.  Take your photos in natural daylight between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. local time.  Please be sure not to use the flash or artificial lights.

***Important*** ALL room lights must be turned off for photos. For in-home consultations, this step is optional. However, it may give us extra time to evaluate more spaces.

How can you see our colors by email and online?

We are trained at seeing colors and measure them objectively with tools allowing detection of colors in photos.  It is often easier to see undertones in a photo.  We often take photos during our in-person consultations, so we can refer back to them later.

Different lighting conditions effect how color is perceived. The key to using photos to evaluate color is they must be taken with natural light, midday, WITHOUT a flash or artificial lighting.

In-Person Consultation House Call

Are you considering our color consultant services? We’ve answered the questions  we get most often, so you can schedule your personal color consultation house call with confidence.

Do you have a minimum service or time for the consultation?

Our consultations are time-based.

We set the minimum time for two hours. The first part of your in-home consultation usually takes 90 minutes to survey your space and evaluate your lighting conditions. The second part usually takes about 30 minutes, so we can discuss the look and feel you want and discuss recommendations to make your space cohesive.

The service depends on your likes and dislikes, so we ask that you be present.

We usually schedule a minimum of 120 minutes for the first consult and sixty minutes for additional time thereafter.

What are the fees for an in-home color consultation?

Our hourly fee is $125/hr.

What is your service area?

We serve areas in Greater Houston and The Woodlands.

What if I decide to reschedule or cancel my appointment?

You can reschedule or cancel through the our  Website Scheduler, or Contact Us.

If you reschedule, please reschedule within 24 hours so that we can fill the slot with another appointment.

What happens when I schedule and purchase an in-home consultation?

Before we travel to your site, we will call or email you for more information about your project. When we arrive on-site at the consultation, we work our magic! We tour the space, discuss your vision, listen carefully to your likes and dislikes and show you our recommendations. We will take detailed notes and discuss our recommendations, and why. We send you a Custom Color report within 24 hours of our visit.

How long does it take to get my In-Person Color Consulting Report?

Since we create the colors together, you will know the colors and plan before we leave your site.  Please allow 5 business days for delivery once you confirm the color concept to put together the detailed report for you and your paint contractor to follow.


E-design, also known as online interior design, is a great way for you to achieve a professionally decorated home in a time-efficient and budget-conscious manner. We collaborate entirely through my personal online platform to create a unique and personal design plan. I love to save people money, so I look for the best deals possible.

How do you design my space without meeting me personally or physically being present?

Over the last decade, technology has made it very possible for interior designers to work with clients over the internet.  Times are changing, so is the way interior design services are offered.  Jamila Mubdia Color & Design Studio aims to accurately understand your budget, space, needs and the look you want to achieve. We will ask that you to complete a client questionnaire, send room measurements and photos, so we can get aquatinted with your space.  We welcome inspiration photos you’ve found online as well.


5 Things A Color Consultant Will Do For You

When will I get my consultation?

After receiving your homework, which includes the completed questionnaires, photos, room measurements and initial payment, I will present your initial concept boards through your project portal in 3-5 business days. We will communicate through your unique, password-protected project page located on my website. All digital concept boards will be emailed in a PDF downloadable and printable file.

How long will it take to get my finalized E-design package?

You will receive your finalized E-Design Presentation Package via email approximately within (1-2) weeks from your final selection of initial concept board presentations. All digital concept boards and renders will be emailed in a PDF downloadable and printable file.

Is it possible to use some of my existing furniture pieces in the design plan?

Sure! We do our best to incorporate your own purchases and unique treasures. This is a benefit of having a personalized and affordable interior makeover.

Will I be able to purchase the items directly?

Yes! Several home furniture retailers (West Elm, CB2, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Pier One) have an online presence. This allows us to provide a shopping list full of items which you can purchase on your own.

Will you make changes to my plan if I don’t like something you’ve selected?

Of course! If we couldn’t provide you with items you love, you may send us your thoughts and we will provide up to three re-selections at no charge per design plan. After this, you will incur an additional fee per selection.

Once I have my plan, how am I able to ask follow-up questions?

After you receive your final e-design package, you have 14 days of post-design support if you do have additional questions. Please contact us via email at [email protected].  After 14 days, our obligations to one another are fulfilled. 

What happens if I wait to purchase an item, and then it’s no longer available?

If something is discontinued, you can shop for a similar item. Prior to purchasing our services, we strongly recommend you wait until you are financially and practically ready to implement our design plans. The manufacturing industry rapidly changes and there are no guarantees that the item specified today will be available six months down the line.

Can I purchase a “E-Design Room Package” as a gift?

Yes!  Our E-design packages are great for housewarming and newlywed gifts, and a lot more.

What locations do you offer E-Design services to?

We offer our e-Design/online services throughout the United States and Canada.  Currently, we do not offer online services outside of North America.
